Amber, I couldn't be happier with the work on my 1951 Chevy Business Coupe. The CARS team worked with me closely all through the project, making recommendations and doing everything possible to build the car to my expectations. I was able to come to the shop to see the progress and the team was always available to answer questions through the process. The results of the project we outstanding....best of show in the first three shows we entered and the car always draws lots of interest and many comments on its build quality. We took the car to the Goodguys Southeast Nationals in the fall of 2006 and were approached to do a photo shoot with Street Rodder magazine resulting in a feature article in the July 2007 issue. The car has been shown at Autorama, Goodguys and many local shows and is always a crowd pleaser...best of all is it is fun and reliable to drive. We will have the car at the Goodguys Nationals in Columbus in July 2008 and our plan is to drive it the 250 miles each way.
Every project like this is bound to have unexpected problems and I remember the CARS team delivering my vehicle to Michigan the spring of 2007...a week before our first show. One of the trailer ramps had come loose during the trip and scratched the quarter panel. Without any question or discussion, the driver closed the door on the trailer and took it straight back to North Carolina (at a lot of inconvenience and expense) and the car was repaired and returned back to Michigan in a week and in time for our first show of the season. Now that is service! Jeffrey

Classic Automotive Restorations completed the body restoration of my 1965 Nova SS in 2003. As with most of these first Gen Novas, it required extensive rust repair to the floors, trunk and replacement of one rear quarter panel. In addition, this car was to be restored to original specifications that included black paint. As any car guy knows, a black car must be very straight to look good. The people at CAR’s did a beautiful job. All the body repairs are undetectable and the paint was flawless. They did a great job outlining what needed to be done and completed it as described. As I assembled the car, I found some sand residue in the paint of the engine compartment. This was corrected and repainted without any argument or charges.
I had a great experience working with the people at CAR’s and highly recommend them to anyone looking for help in the show quality restoration of almost any type of car. This is not an ordinary body shop! The skill of their craftsmen clearly stands out in the quality o f the wide variety of cars they restore.

Amber,
I have had Classic Automotive Restoration (CARS) involved in several restoration projects over the past nine years. These projects have ranged from complete restorations to projects more limited in scope. My style is to be very involved in most all of the work, resulting in a lot of back and forth communication as the projects progress, needless to say this can be challenging. Through all of the efforts, CARS has proven capable of producing top level results while working with me to satisfy my vision of a project. When issues arose, as they inevitably do with complex old car projects, we were able to resolve them quickly and professionally. If you are considering a partial or complete restoration I highly recommend their services.

...the section on the shop was the reason I chose you guys to start with, compared to other facilities I visited, you guys were far more impressive. I think someone “shopping” from afar would be encouraged with some images of the shop area.

I would highly recommend C.A.R.S to anyone seeking quality restoration services. The old adage that it's cheaper to do it right the first time certainly applies to this type of work: if you are looking for shortcuts then they are not for you. The craftsmen at this shop are well aware that they are building dreams. They communicate well and keep the owner informed at every step of the process. I see the same level of commitment with the new camaros. Scott -1970 Oldsmobile 442

CARS,
It has been about a year and a half since you finished the body and paint work on my 65 Nova SS. I thought I would let you know what it finally looks like. I am already getting many great compliments on the beautiful black paint. And in this photo I think you will see why. I finally finished all the mechanicals and maybe when I get it to some shows next year I can give you some more references.
Thanks for the great job. Greg

From the February 2009 newsletter of the Carolinas Chapter of the G.S.C.A. Club:
"Wow, what a great meeting. Jim Barber and his staff at CARS were tremendous hosts and their capabilities are endless. Jim took an amazing amount of time explaining to us what separates a great restoration facility from all the rest. And from what we learned, his is one of the best.
We got to see several interesting cars in various stages of restoration. Some of my favorites were the new 1969 COPO Camar that will be featured on the cover of an upcoming issue of Super Chevy magazine, the 1977 Firebird that Elvis bought for a friend in Vegas, and the Plum Crazy Hemi Super Bee convertible, a one of two rarity, sitting on Crager SS wheels. Oh, I almost forgot, the Yenko, the Hot Rod Camaro, the tube frame Healy with the Rousch engine, and the 69 COPO Camaro test mule. You should have been there.
Those of us in attendance will have no trouble recommending Jim and his crew for any restoration need. They do everything in house; fabrication, paint, mechanicals, interior, you name it. They are also essentially a DuPont paint store and offer a lifetime warranty on their paint jobs.
Go by and check them out!

Since 2001 I can see the improvement in CARS. They have become real pros at their jobs. You can see what an outstanding job they did on my truck if you get the chance to see it. I wish to thank Todd, the shop foreman; Marty, the bodyworks man; Robert, the electrician; and Michael, the painter; all of whom did a great job. We would recommend them to anyone who wants a vehicle rebuilt.
